Christian Challenge goes Local, National, Global
College students have a heart to love God and love people. Students are not unaware of the needs of the world we live in. This Fall, Christian Challenge students donated money for fresh water wells in Africa, sent a team to do Flood Relief in Iowa, and are sending a team to East Asia during Christmas Break to share the love of Jesus.Blood:Water Mission is an organization that drills wells for fresh water in Africa. During a two-week period students fasted from buying beverages and gave a donation to enable the drilling of wells. For every dollar given an African can have fresh water for life. Because of the small sacrifice of our students, over 1000 Africans will have fresh water for life!
During UNL's Fall Break, a team of twelve students, including some from Southeast Community College, went to the Cedar Rapids area. They stayed in a Methodist church and during the day did demolition of drywall, cleaned out a house that had not been touched since the summer floods, and cleared debris from street curbs and ditches. It was a great experience for these students to serve and to come closer together in Christ.
After Christmas, a team of five men led by Jeremy Pape is going to East Asia to a city where the Pape's lived for two years. They are going to encourage some past friends who live in the city as well as build new friendships with some who may have never heard of Jesus. This two-week
trip will be supported by gifts from friends, college students, and New Cov's mission offering.
