Global Impact - Funding

Funding for most mission projects and ministries comes from 3 sources: our regular missions budget, our Global Impact offering, and specially designated giving to missions. The Corporate Committee decides each year on the percentage from the regular budget given to missions. In this current budget year, New Covenant has committed 10% of their general offerings to missions.

The Global Impact offering is taken once a year during a Global Impact emphasis. While many churches take several mission offerings a year for international, North American and state missions, we have combined these into one emphasis a year.

We encourage people to pray about what they would pledge and give to the Global Impact Offering over and above their regular tithes and other offerings.

The Global Impact Offering is used to fund the Lottie Moon Christmas offering (for International Missions), scholarships to short-term volunteers from NewCov, collegiate summer missionaries, Builders for Christ, and assistance to missionaries on stateside assignments.

Each year, as a part of the budget process, the mission team meets to prayerfully consider needs and requests. Currently, we are using a "priority matrix" to decide who receives funding. We give priority to those with a direct relationship to NewCov (members and former members), our denominational affiliation (Southern Baptist Convention) and the location of the project. For questions about this process, contact Craig Zachariasen.

What About Our International Ministries?

They are totally supported by the International Mission Board. We give to the IMB through our regular gifts (Cooperative Program) and the Global Missions offering taken once a year.

What is the Cooperative Program?

It is the major means by which churches affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention support their ministries and mission causes.

Each church sends a portion of their regular giving to the state Baptist Convention. Then the state convention (KNCSB, in our case) determines whom to support. Major support goes to the International Mission Board, the North American Mission Board and to state mission ministries.
