Royal Family Kids' Camp
Royal Family Kids' Camp
Shining the Light, July 20-24, 2010
by Sue Strandlund Ford"When you have a kid who has lived a life of rejection and abuse cling to you and tell you that this is the best day of his life, words cannot describe the feeling you get and the thankfulness to God for how He has used you. When you are witness to God's miracles, like seeing the smile on a kid's face when you reunite the following year, or having one of your kids tell you he has accepted Christ, it has a permanent effect on your heart." - Jeff B., RFKC Counselor
Royal Family Kids' Camp is a one-week residential summer camp for 7-11 year-old children who have been abused, neglected or abandoned.

Tell me more about Royal Family Kids' Camp...
What we do...This camping experience is geared for success, recognizing the needs of abused, neglected and abandoned children. Games, activity centers and other activities are designed to build the awareness of kids' own self-worth and value.
Music, skits and Bible lessons follow a camp theme, which emphasizes how kids are loved and important to God. For many of these children, this may be the first time they hear about and experience the unconditional love of God.
Where does it all happen? Each year some 50 campers are served, most of whom are living within the foster care system. Campers are paired up with and adult counselor and only one other camper. This camper to counselor ratio allows the counselor to provide undivided attention to the kids.
This week of love and positive memories can aid in the healing of scars of abuse and provide a foundation for future happiness.
About the Camp
Lancaster County Royal Family Kids' Camp is a joint ministry effort designed specifically to help abused and neglected children ages 7 to 11 to experience the love of God.In 2001, New Covenant Community Church partnered with other local churches to establish and provide planning, funding and staffing for the Lancaster County Royal Family Kids' Camp. Royal Family Kids' Camp, a national, non-profit ministry, provides the training materials, structure and curriculum. There are now over 160 camps throughout the U.S. and four other countries.
The Lancaster County RFKC is held annually in mid-July and serves 50 campers each year, most of whom are living within the foster care system. There is a very high camper-to-counselor ratio to ensure that the special needs of our campers are met. Additional support is provided by the many other staff members who focus on bringing affirmation and affection to the children and create a feeling of family which many of these children have never experienced.
A wide variety of roles are needed at the camp for anyone who is 18 or older and has a heart to see God change the lives of children. Staff members attend 12 hours of training in Lincoln and are at camp Sunday afternoon through Friday afteroon. Financial support is also needed to fund camp expenses, including food, transportation, lodging, etc.
