Royal Family Kids' Camp

Reach Neglected and Abused Children of Lancaster County

July 21-25, 2008

Royal Family Kids' Camp is looking for volunteers to help in a number of different avenues during their week of camp this sumer. They are looking for people to fill counselor positions (ages 18 and older, each assigned to two students for the week) as well as staff positions, such as a nurse, professional counselor, music and drama team, counselor relief, craft helper and many others. They also need help in Lincoln with Monday morning registration and the welcome home dinner for staff on Friday evening. Financial support is also needed as the children are in the foster care system and attend free of charge. If you have any interest or have questions, please contact the church office at 484-5033.

About the Camp

Lancaster County Royal Family Kids' Camp is a joint ministry effort designed specifically to help abused and neglected children ages 7 to 11 to experience the love of God.

In 2001, New Covenant Community Church partnered with other local churches to establish and provide planning, funding and staffing for the Lancaster County Royal Family Kids' Camp. Royal Family Kids' Camp, a national, non-profit ministry, provides the training materials, structure and curriculum. There are now over 160 camps throughout the U.S. and four other countries.

The Lancaster County RFKC is held annually in mid-July and serves 50 campers each year, most of whom are living within the foster care system. There is a very high camper-to-counselor ratio to ensure that the special needs of our campers are met. Additional support is provided by the many other staff members who focus on bringing affirmation and affection to the children and create a feeling of family which many of these children have never experienced.

A wide variety of roles are needed at the camp for anyone who is 18 or older and has a heart to see God change the lives of children. Staff members attend 12 hours of training in Lincoln and are at camp Sunday afternoon through Friday afteroon. Financial support is also needed to fund camp expenses, including food, transportation, lodging, etc.

For more information, please contact Sue Strandlund-Ford or the New Covenant Community Church office at 484-5033.
